I have been active in the pro-life movement for decades. I am a founding member of the local Kansans For Life chapter, the chairman of the Life Chain in Leavenworth, the pro-life co-coordinator for my church, a third degree Knight of Columbus and a frequent pro-life writer to the editors in the area. As a delegate for the Republican Party I have participated in the development of several platforms and have worked to make and keep the platform pro-life.
Sadly, Kansas is the late term abortion capital of the world – outside of China. Huge political donations by the abortion industry have bought the government and law enforcement of the state. Candidates for office must be very careful in their public pro-life stance to avoid massive negative, slanderous campaigns against them. Pro-life candidates and office holders are regularly and without basis accused of being racist, separatist, and extremist. The primary problem is that they want laws defending the rights of the unborn and they want those laws enforced. Unfortunately, we cannot even get enforcement of laws requiring abortion mills to observe minimal standards.
Pro-life citizens of Kansas must accept the responsibility to educate their fellow citizens and to support pro-life candidates. If elected I will join hands with anyone in any party or faction to save the lives of the children.
Life is the first right – there is no liberty and no pursuit of happiness without life. It is from the Creator and it is our responsibility to defend life. God has given us life and He has given us salvation in the same manner – through the birth of a child – it is how He always give us the best gifts.
